dub & reggae producer out of antwerp – belgium

Clive Chin @ the UFO

At the end of March, legendary producer Clive Chin came to visit the UFO. I met Clive briefly when he did a dj-set at Reggae Geel in 2011 and subsequently in the summer 2012 during a quick stop over in Belgium to visit our mutual friends of the Dukes of Skazzard. When he got word of the pending release of ‘Farmerman Life’ he was thoroughly impressed with Collieman’s singing. In view of Clive’s lost archives project, where he wants to revive both released and unreleased material out of the Randys studio with original vocals as well as new talent, Clive came to visit the UFO (he was on tour in EU with the Dukes of Skazzard) with a bag of riddims transferred of the original tapes. We spent a day listening to some amazing music and Collieman worked out a tune on a classic Wailers riddim which was originally released in 1975 with vocals by Ta-Teasha called ‘Oh Jah Come’. A true roots classic. Nonetheless Collieman was able to put down a great version for himself that stands on his own right. When Clive get’s back to NY he will transfer the multi-track from the original tapes so that yours truely can arrange the riddim to Collieman’s needs and run some versions of the desk. Great stuff, to touch the music that was layed down by legends. Thanks for this oppertunity Mr Chin !!! Check out the youtube preview and stay tuned for more news to come.
